Axar castles Bairstow with an archetypal slanter

If you have ever wondered what domination looks like, check out what India are doing to England in Guyana. The Indian spinners have taken a real liking to the conditions and are harnessing it beautifully. England will need a miraculous turnaround to get back into the game, having lost 7 wickets for 73 runs in a steep chase of 172.

Axar Patel was the wrecker-in-chief in the PowerPlay, scalping three wickets. The standout dismissal was that of Jonny Bairstow, who made the mistake of playing with an angled bat as Axar’s typical slider beat the bat on the inside and crashed into the sticks.

It is not the first time Bairstow has lost his poles to Axar, having made an error of judgement in the Hyderabad Test earlier this year too.

South Africa will compete with the winner of this T20 World Cup 2024 semi-final match at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, on 29th June.
