Kuldeep Yadav’s wrong un’ bamboozles advancing Glenn Maxwell

Kuldeep Yadav pulled the rug from under Glenn Maxwell’s feet in the ICC T20 World Cup Super 8 clash between India and Australia by bowling an inch-perfect googly as the dangerous right-hander was advancing down the crease. It was a very crucial moment in the game because even though Australia had lost David Warner early and Axar Patel had sent Mitchell Marsh packing with a superb catch in the deep, Travis Head and Maxwell were keeping the chase alive by coming hard at India.

Marcus Stoinis was unlucky to find backward point to perfection with his reverse sweep, and the two quick strikes saw India finish the middle phase on a high. With wickets falling around him, Head felt the need to go even harder and perished in the process. Australia could never really recover from the mini-collapse between overs 10-15 and with Bumrah having two overs at the death, the asking rate was always going to be a tough ask as India had posted an above-par total of 205.

Brief scores: India 205/5 in 20 overs (Rohit Sharma 92, Suryakumar Yadav 31; Mitchell Starc 2-45) beat Australia 181/7 in 20 overs (Travis Head 76, Mitchell Marsh 37; Kuldeep Yadav 2-24) by 24 runs
