Ollie Phillips

A badger for all things sport and authentic cricket tragic. Returning from a year abroad in Italy and Spain, where most of my time was spent baffling European housemates with footage of men and women blocking out good-length deliveries for five days at a time. Accordingly hold Test cricket in the highest regard, but always more than happy to enjoy the other formats. Willingness to accept change and desire for the game to grow being closely scrutinised by the Hundred’s impossible graphics and claims that ‘Oh Yeah!’ is a natural reaction to a good shot. Pity the cricket-loving parents who will one day take their kids to a day at the Test, lambasted by cries of “what is happening?” and “why aren’t they doing the toss under a gazebo in front of a live DJ?”. Still, delighted to see the game in a relevant place, and always happy to write about cricketing issues big and small. Would relate most as a bloke to Steve Smith at the crease – not great to look at, won’t go away.
