Jimmy Anderson produced the moment of class required to make the breakthrough in India’s first innings at Lord’s on Thursday. Rohit Sharma, partnered by the resolute KL Rahul, was putting on a display of high-class batting, combining a compact defensive techinque with a willingness to attack.
England turned to that man again, who sent a couple of seaming deliveries away from the bat of Rohit before bowling a fuller one that nipped back into the right-hander, deflecting off his back pad and crashing into the top of off. It was a much-needed wicket for Joe Root and England having won the toss and elected to bowl.
You absolute beauty @jimmy9!! 😍
