Recuperating Stokes, Crawley named in Test squad for Pakistan tour

Ben Stokes and opener Zac Crawley have been named in the 17-man squad that England have picked for the Pakistan tour in October. Both had both missed the recent Sri Lanka Test series due to injuries. Dan Lawrence, who played against Sri Lanka in the absence of Crawley, misses out.

Stokes, the England Test captain, had been ruled out of the rest of the English summer after suffering a hamstring injury while playing in The Hundred 2024. The Durham all-rounder tore his left hamstring while representing Northern Superchargers.

Crawley had suffered an injury on his little finger while taking a catch in the slip in the Edgbaston Test against West Indies.

Full squad: Ben Stokes, Rehan Ahmed, Gus Atkinson, Shoaib Bashir, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Jordan Cox, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Josh Hull, Jack Leach, Ollie Pope, Matthew Potts, Joe Root, Jamie Smith, Olly Stone, Chris Woakes

This will be England’s first tour of Pakistan since 2022, when they had won the series. The current squad features eight members of that triumphant squad.
