James Vince reveals details of scary attacks on family home

England opener and World Cup winner James Vince has revealed via a report in The Telegraph on Tuesday, July 16, that there had been two attacks on his family home in Hampshire in the last three months.

He informed the newspaper that three months ago the family was woken up in the middle of the night by the scary sound of shattering glass and blaring alarms. The house and cars had been attacked. Just over a month later, after they had completed the repair job, the Vince house was once again targetted by trespassers, who threw bricks to cause havoc.

After the attacks, support came from Hampshire, the ECB and he Professional Cricketers’ Association. Intelligence firms were summoned to probe into the matter, but their investigations have not revealed much thus far.

A number of fans shared messages of support for Vince on X, formerly Twitter, after reading about his experiences “That’s terrible James, hope you and the family can recover soon,” wrote an empathetic netizen.

Vince has 13 test appearances for England, the most recent coming against New Zealand in 2018. He also featured in 25 ODIs, most recently against Bangladesh in 2023, and took two catches as a substitute fielder in the 2019 Cricket World Cup final victory against New Zealand.
