Royal Challengers Bangalore buy Alzarri Joseph for 11.50 crores

Alzarri Joseph goes to Royal Challengers Bangalore for 11.50 Crore in the auction ahead of Indian Premier League 2024. A crazy bidding war took place between Lucknow Super Giants and RCB, who missed out on Pat Cummins but settled for Joseph for almost half the price.

It has been a big payday for pacers. Earlier, Australia fast bowlers Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins became the most expensive players ever sold at the IPL auction, smashing the record held by England all-rounder Sam Curran. Starc, who last played in the lucrative league eight years ago, took 34 wickets from 27 games across the 2014 and 2015 seasons at an impressive economy of 7.17. Over 121 T20 games, the 33-year-old has picked up 170 wickets at an economy of 7.45.

The 30-year-old Cummins has enjoyed a remarkable year in which he’s led Australia to a World Test Championship crown and a drawn-away Ashes series. Cummins though has a substandard record in the IPL, having taken 45 wickets from 42 games at an economy of 8.54.
