An extremely funny incident transpired during the third and the final T20I between England women and Sri Lanka Women that took place on Wednesday, where the umpire tripped and fell while evading a throw and the fielder backing up.
Sri Lanka scripted a historic upset, claiming their maiden white-ball series win over England with a resounding seven-wicket victory in the third T20I clash in Derby. England, batting first, faltered yet again to the slower bowlers and were bundled out for a mere 116 runs in 19 overs, courtesy of another brilliant fielding display from the Sri Lankans.
Chamari Athapaththu laid the platform for the chase with a brisk 44 off 28 balls, setting up Sri Lanka’s jaunt to their target with three overs to spare. Although Alice Capsey dismissed Athapaththu with 52 runs still needed, Harshitha Samarawickrama and Hasini Perera dovetailed to see the chase through.
Brief Scores: England 116 all out in 19 overs (Bouchier 23; Athapaththu 3-21) lost to Sri Lanka 117/3 in 17 overs (Athapaththu 44; Glenn 2-23) by 7 wickets
