England have the measure of the Australian openers in the second innings of the Old Trafford Test. Mark Wood came into the attack and struck in his very first over by nicking off Usman Khawaja, who took a review along with him as a clear spike was discerned by UltraEdge.
Chris Woakes then took out David Warner for the second time in the match. The southpaw threw away yet another start, with a tentative poke ricocheting the ball onto the stumps.
The highlight of the second session on Day 3 was Jonny Bairstow’s blitzkrieg. He unfortunately missed out on a century by one run, with James Anderson being trapped lbw. Josh Hazlewood managed to pick five wickets despite the England batters thrashing all the bowlers. Almost every English batter chipped in with significant contributions to give the hosts a good chance of levelling the series, despite the weather forecast looking ominous for the next two days.
