England have selected the uncapped duo of Lauren Filer and Danielle Gibson in their 15-member squad for the Women’s Ashes Test. Heather Knight’s team will kickstart their Ashes summer with the one-off five-day Test match at Trent Bridge in Nottingham from June 22. This will be England’s maiden five-day Test on home soil, and also their first red-ball clash at Trent Bridge since 2000.
England women’s squad for Ashes Test: Heather Knight (c), Tammy Beaumont, Lauren Bell, Alice Capsey, Kate Cross, Alice Davidson-Richards, Sophia Dunkley, Sophie Ecclestone, Lauren Filer, Danielle Gibson, Amy Jones, Emma Lamb, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Issy Wong, Danielle Wyatt
Both Filer and Gibson have turned up for Western Storm in the domestic circuit and have earned their maiden call up to the national side with impressive performances. Filer has been Wester Storm’s bowling lynchpin in their last two campaigns while Gibson comes as the joint-highest run-getter and top wicket-taker in this season’s Charlotte Edwards Cup.
