Ravindra Jadeja hits 10 off 2 balls to seal pulsating victory

Ravindra Jadeja punches the air in delight.

Chennai Super Kings went on an even keel with Mumbai Indians at five IPL trophies by scripting a last-ball win against Gujarat Titans in a game befitting a summit clash. With 10 needed off the last two deliveries, Ravindra Jadeja donked a six down the ground and a four to fine leg off Mohit Sharma’s wayward full toss to seal the deal in emphatic fashion.

In a rain-curtailed chase, the game ebbed and flowed as Chennai Super Kings were buoyed by a series of cameos before they almost stumbled towards the end with Mohit Sharma providing the star turn, seizing up two wickets and stacking 13 consecutive balls without a boundary along with Mohammed Shami.

13 were needed off the final over. Switching to a pace-up yorker length ploy, Mohit found remarkable success initially as four balls went unpunished but Jadeja managed to pull the rabbit out of the hat. He stayed deep in the crease to first yank a six down the ground. Mohit panicked, and doled out a low full toss which was swiped down to the fine leg fence, triggering raucous celebrations in front of a 75000 crowd that had stayed back after the washout the previous day.
