Sisanda Magala five-fer takes South Africa closer to World Cup berth

South Africa inch closer.

South Africa made light work of the Netherlands in the third and final match of the ODI series that was significant to the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. The victory bolstered South Africa’s prospects of sealing a spot for the ICC Cricket World Cup in India later this year.

Netherlands won the toss and invited South Africa to bat at the Wanderers. The openers perished against the new ball, bringing Aiden Markram to the crease, who scored his maiden ODI hundred in his 50th ODI, and converted it into a daddy version, bludgeoning 175 off 126 deliveries, including 17 fours and 7 sixes. David Miller, who blazed his way to a 61-ball 91, played an integral role as well in lifting South Africa to 370-8 after 50 overs. The Netherlands lost the match by 146 runs – a fairly high margin than anticipated.

Brief Scores: South Africa 370/8 (Aiden Markram 175, David Miller 91, Fred Klaasen 2-43) beat Netherlands (Musa Ahmed 61, Sisanda Magala 5-43)by 146 runs.
