Mohammed Shami had been responsible for a lot of oohs and aahs from the slip cordon but he didn’t have a wicket to show for his efforts before Lunch on the opening day of the Test series opener at Trent Bridge. However, the pace merchant struck right away after the break as Dom Sibley couldn’t keep his flick shot along the carpet to depart for an unfulfilled 18 off 69 deliveries.
While Sibley squandered a start, his captain Joe Root went on to register a chanceless fifty and even breezed past Sir Alistair Cook to become the highest run-getter for England in the process.
