Hardik Pandya and Mitchell Santner were left surprised by the behaviour of the Ranchi pitch in the first T20I, and the home captain expressed his dissatisfaction with the pitch in Lucknow as well. The wickets offered significant turn and continued to assist the spinners well into the second innings of the game when it was anticipated to become better for batting under the effect of dew. Although the slower bowlers ruled the roost, Arshdeep Singh managed to give a good account of himself, picking up two wickets at the Ekana Stadium.
