Sydney Thunder suffered a major blow ahead of the upcoming BBL season after David Willey withdrew from the competition. The all-rounder was Thunder’s platinum signing in the inaugural BBL draft. Willey and the Thunder management have mutually agreed to terminate his contract, the club confirmed on Tuesday, November 15.
Willey was a part of England’s World Cup winning squad but didn’t get to feature in a game throughout the tournament. Apart from his skill and smarts with the ball, Willey is known for his big-hitting prowess having scored a couple of hundreds in the T20 format. Thunder have begun the search for a suitable replacement.
