The concept of retiring a batter out is picking up steam in T20 cricket with Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis contemplating walking off the field to allow the in-form Dinesh Karthik more time in the middle in their game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday. As it turned out, RCB lost a wicket off the second ball of the penultimate over and Karthik smashed a rollicking unbeaten 30 off only eight deliveries to lift the total up to 192 for 3. The designated finisher walloped a four and four sixes in his cameo.
“I was actually trying to get out because I was so tired to get DK in and we were even contemplating, you know, myself retiring”
