(Video) Bail bizarrely doesn’t come off the groove despite a reasonably hard thump

An absolutely bizarre incident transpired on day three of the Sydney Ashes Test as a ball from Cameron Green struck the off stump but the bails were not dislodged. Ben Stokes shouldered arms to a ball that nipped in sharply, but it turned out to be an ill-judged leave as the ball went on to kiss the off pole. However, much to the surprise of all involved, the bail did not come off the groove and Stokes survived. Before the incredible stroke of fortune came to his rescue, Stokes had also been put down by Pat Cummins in his followthrough. One would expect the dashing left-hander to make it count after having enjoyed his fair share of luck.
