Haseeb Hameed hit an unbeaten 53 while Rory Burns made 39 as England began their Ashes tour in a low-key and rain-hit intra-squad warm-up game. Although weather permitted 29 overs only, Hameed struck eight boundaries and Burns found the ropes four times as the England XI made 98 without loss after winning the toss and opting to bat. England are due to play a three-day warm-up from 30 November, while the Australians have their own unofficial fixture from 1st December.
