Essex made light work of Gloucestershire as they consumed less than two and a half days to inflict a jumbo innings and three-run victory. Resuming Day 3 at 132/5 in their second innings, 68 runs in arrears, Gloucestershire succumbed to 134/8 as Sam Cook and Simon Harmer ran riot. Ryan Higgins and Zafar Gohar delayed the inevitable with a half-century stand for the ninth wicket but Gloucestershire folded for 197, with Harmer bagging four and Cook three to take their respective match tally to seven and six.
