Rohit Sharma has had something of a love-hate relationship with Test cricket. Having plundered double hundred after double hundred for India in One Day Internationals, it was hoped that he would translate that form into the red-ball game. It did not go completely to plan, as shortages came when Rohit attempted to squeeze into the middle order. The “Hitman” came under some considerable media scrutiny and lost his place, only to be backed by Virat Kohli as a Test match batsman. Beginning his career as an opener in whites in 2019, Rohit, and India, have not looked back since. He is now the highest-ranked opening batsman in the world, and sits at fifth on the overall standings, behind Joe Root, Kane Williamson, Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne.
